Dorrace Elizabeth Haynes (96) was born in Fate, Texas, on April 14, 1924. She passed away in Borger, Texas April 20, 2020.
After graduating Royce City High School in 1941 she attended Texas Women's College, 1945 she graduated from St Paul School of Nursing in Dallas. She practiced in Parker County Hospital, Gaston Hospital and Stamford Memorial Hospital where she retired in 1980. She also taught nurses aid classes at TSTI. She was the first woman on the Stamford Memorial Hospital board.
Dorrace was a member of the Central Presbyterian Church in Stamford and First Presbyterian Church in Kerrville Texas. She moved to Kerrville in 1996 - 2016 to be with Harry Lee in 2016 she moved to Amarillo.
She was a member of the Stamford Music Club, Stamford Garden Club, DAR, the Huguenot Society, Heart and Cancer Association.
Dorrace loved to work in her yard, sew, cook and travel. Most of all she loved her whole family, her grandchildren, great grandchildren and her friends.
She married the love of her life Dr. Harry Haynes October 16, 1948. They were married for 54 years until he preceded her in death.
Dorrace was also preceded by her mother and father, Mayme Liddell Pullen and John Henry Pullen, two sons, Harry Lee Haynes Jr., Gordon Henry Haynes, six sisters: Louise Niedermaier, Martha Pullen, Jim Bragg Bulls, Lottie Pullen, Mayme Green George and two brothers: John Henry Pullen and Rayford Pullen.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter and son in law, Beth and Lewis Lyckman of Fritch, Texas, her daughter in law Teresa Haynes of Houston, two grandsons Major William Lewayne Lyckman, Clayton Henry Haynes, two granddaughters Madeline Anne Lyckman and Kendall Lynn Haynes, three great grandsons, three great granddaughters, five nieces, four nephews, several great, great great, great great great nieces and nephews.
A memorial service celebrating her life will held July 17th with visitation at 10 am and service at 11 am in the Stamford Presbyterian Church Stamford, Texas. Memorials can be sent to Haynes Scholarship, 1st National Bank, P. O. Box 671, Stamford, Texas 79553.
