Dorothy "Dotty" B. Wilson, 90, of New Bern, NC, passed away peacefully Saturday June 10, 2023 at the Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro, NC
She was born February 21, 1933, in Pittsburg, PA to the late Francis Jacob and Mary Roche Jacob.
She was of Lutheran faith. Dotty attended Wilkinsburg High School in Pittsburg, PA. She graduated from the University of Pittsburg, class of 1954, completing a Bachelor of Science degree. She was a member of Tri Delta Sorority. Dotty taught elementary education for 32 years. Most of those years were spent teaching in Washington County Maryland schools.
Dotty was an avid gardener. She enjoyed playing golf up until the age of 85 at the Taberna Country Club. She was a huge fan of the Pittsburg and University of Maryland sports teams. Dottie had a love for horses and was co-owner of "Singing Spirits Stable". She enjoyed traveling, going to the ocean and sunbathing. Dotty loved to entertain family and friends. All who knew Dotty, loved her.
Dotty is survived by her husband of 41 years, James. W. Wilson, sons, Daniel Brougher, David Brougher(Nicole), stepdaughter, Denise Sigler, stepson, Brad Wilson, grandchildren, Nicholas Brougher, Branin Lewis, Bryant Sigler(Marko), great grandson Oliver Benito and sister Sally Lauric.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Donald Brougher, a son, Jeffery Brougher, sisters, Sue and Mary Lou and a brother Jim.
A memorial service will be held at the Centenary United Methodist Church, 309 New St. New Bern, NC 28560 on Friday June 30, 2023 at 4:00pm. Following the service, a Celebration of Life will be held at the Taberna Country Club 401 Taberna Way New Bern, NC.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the John Ritter Foundation for Aortic Health.
