Dorothy Settle Whorton, 90 of Amissville, VA passed away peacefully in her home on April 4, 2021 surrounded by her family and friends.
She was born on October 29, 1930 in Rappahannock County to the late Robert J. Settle and Eliza F. Settle. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Roy C. Whorton. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Ethel Compton, and three brothers, Robert (B) Settle, William Settle, and Donald Settle.
She is survived by 4 children, Gary C. Whorton and his wife, Shelia; Cathy W. Frazier and her husband, Ron; Forrest L. Whorton and his wife, Tammy; and Martin Z. Whorton and his wife, Carolyn; 12 grandchildren?Benjamin Whorton, Teresa Freeman, AaronWhorton, Kristin Frazier, Ronald Frazier II, Amanda Frazier, Jonathan Whorton, Joanna Hill, Esther Critzer, Deborah Baldwin, Zane Whorton, and Phillip Whorton; 24 great-grandchildren?Luke Whorton, Dillon Whorton, Micah Whorton, Israel Whorton, Justice Whorton, Elissa Whorton, Zion Whorton, Anna Whorton, Wyatt Freeman, Cameron Whorton, Katie Whorton, Logan Whorton, Gunnar Whorton, Shelby Whorton, Cheyenne Hill, Renee Hill, Faith Hill, Summer Hill, Lorelei Critzer, Clayton Baldwin, Waylon Baldwin, Kodi Laine Whorton, Olivia Whorton, and Martin Lee Whorton; and one great-grandchild, Kendal.
She is survived by one sister, Marjorie Jenkins and one brother, Richard Settle, and many nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was a member of the Massanova Pentecostal Church and the Sunday School Secretary since 1975. She also taught typing at Massanova Christian Academy. Dorothy was a lifetime NRA member.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 8 from 7-9 PM at Massanova Pentecostal Church, 691 Aaron Mountain Road, Castleton, VA. The funeral will be held on Friday, April 9 at 11:00 AM at Massanova Pentecostal Church. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memory Gardens, Jeffersonton, VA.
Pallbearers are Ben Whorton, Aaron Whorton, Jonathan Whorton, Ronnie Frazier II, Zane Whorton, and Phillip Whorton. Honorary Pallbearers are Greg Freeman, Luke Whorton, and Dillon Whorton.
