WARREN- Dorothy M. Thompson, age 99, passed away peacefully Saturday morning at Community Skilled Healthcare Center after short period of declining health.
Dorothy was born September 16, 1921 in Niles, Ohio to the late George and Euphemisms Murray. She was a graduate of Niles McKinley High School and attended Pleasant Valley Church.
Dorothy loved to read, especially John Grisham's books; she read every one of his books. Dorothy enjoyed traveling, memorable trips to Yellowstone and Howard's annual USS Virgo reunions. In their younger years, Dorothy and Howard enjoyed Bowling on Sunday night in a league. She will also be remembered as one who was always up for a card game, no matter the game.
Besides her parents, Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, Howard D. "Merle" Thompson, her son Tom Thompson, her brother George Murray, and her sisters, Marge Ainsworth, Christina Minotti, May Sunderman, and Kate Wallace.
Dorothy is survived by her four sons, Fred (Sherry) Thompson, George (Sandy) Thompson, Mike (Paula) Thompson, and Brian (Beth) Thompson; daughter-in-law Theresa Thompson; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren.
Friends may call Wednesday, July 14th from 11-12PM at the Lane Funeral Homes, Roberts-Clark Chapel, 180 Garfield Dr. NE in Warren; where the funeral service will begin at Noon. Entombment in Pineview Memorial Park.
