Dorothy Grace (Konkel) Riley, 97, passed away peacefully in her home on January 5, 2021, surrounded by her family. She was born March 2, 1923, in Akron, Ohio to Arthur and Helen Konkel. Dorothy graduated from Buchtel High School in 1940. She was a resident of Hudson for 31 years and resided in Stow for the past 23 years. She was a volunteer at Summa Akron City Hospital in mail and flower delivery contributing 7,988 volunteer service hours and a lifetime member of the Women's Board of Summa Health System. Dorothy was also a member and board member of the Stan Hywet Needlework Guild from its founding in 1970 lending her needlework skills to support the conservation of Stan Hywet Hall and participating in many needlework showcases. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Henry; son, Patrick Roy, daughter, Carol Ann, son Lawrence Arthur; granddaughter, Kathryn McAdory (Ede), great-grandson, Avery Gliebe. She is survived by her children: Daniel (Sharon), Joan (John Melert), Kathryn (Thomas) Ede, Donna (Thomas) Gilbride, Mary (Len) Miceli, Colleen (Richard) Vignos, Elizabeth (Frank) Kehn, Bridget (Byron) Leavitt, Margaret (Robert) Riley-Jamison. Her many grandchildren kept her young: Sara, JoEllen, Heather, Carl, Melissa, Cristin, Lisa, Matthew, Anthony, Aaron, Eleanor, Jennifer, Carrie, Joseph, Molly, Bridget, Grace, Clare, Andrea, Jacqueline, Gretchen, Abigail, August, Riley, Garrett, Madeline, Elizabeth and Caroline; her great-grandchildren: Olivia, Sophia, Lily, Andrew, Greyden, Easton, Maren, Lena, Nora, Grant, Emily, Abigail, Samuel, Grace, Jake, Kalie, McKinney, Collins, Emma, Elizabeth, Mina, Ben, Max, Adeline, Annabelle, Izzy, Miles, Marley, Ava, William and Eloise. A private family service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 9, at Holy Family Catholic Church.
