Dorothy Rathvon Hughes passed away at 91 years with heart failure on September 16. She was born into a family reaching nine siblings on a homestead in Birdsview. She enjoyed a life time of fond memories and the companionship of her close knit family.
Dorothy graduated from Sedro-Woolley high school and joined her older sister, Ethel, in Seattle to attend business college. She retired after 30 years with the telephone company. Her husband of 59 years, Homer Hughes, preceded her in passing in 2014. They had three children; Yvonne Hughes of Albuquerque, NM; Gail Hughes of Carrabelle, FL, and Blake Hughes of Waikoloa, HI. She has two remaining brothers and a sister; Roy Rathvon and wife, (dear friend)Jo Ann, Violet Aiken and Glen Rathvon. Her strength of character and generosity of spirit will be missed by all who knew her.
