Dorothy Jane Burk McDade passed away on November 12, 2021. She was born in Hiteman, Iowa on April 5, 1923 to Matt and Lena Burk. She attended school there and graduated from high school in 1940 second in her class. She worked at General Motors in Des Moines for 20 years in the accounting department and retired in 1970. She serves as a WAVE in the Navy Reserves with a rank of Petty Officer 1st class. She was a city clerk for 2 years in the little town of Arcadia, Iowa where she lived for 15 years before moving to Florida. She was a member at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Largo, FL. She is preceded in death by her husband, Don McDade, parents and 2 sisters. She is survived by her daughter, Carol Olmstead and her husband Randy; granddaughter, Kathlena Witkowski and great-grandson, Dylan Witkowski, all of Largo, Florida; a god-son, Jamie Bruggeman of Des Moines, Iowa; niece-in-law, Linda Matters, wife of deceased nephew, Donnie Matters, of Everett, PA. She also leaves many friends at the Largo Community Center where she went every week to crochet baby blankets and hats for sick babies and needy homeless children, nursing home patients, and hospice. A visitation will be held on Friday, November 19th at 10am at Serenity Funeral Home with a graveside service to follow at Serenity Gardens Memorial Park on Indian Rocks Road in Largo, Florida.
