Dorothy S. May, 88, of Verona, passed away January 4, 2022.
She was born in Brooklyn on September 12, 1933, a daughter of the late James R. and Dorothy (Anderson) Sears. Dorothy was united in marriage to Robert May. She was a Registered Nurse, who's career was spent at Oneida City Hospital and St. Joseph Hospital in Syracuse, before working in home healthcare. She was an avid swimmer who could always be found at the Family Y in Rome for her 6am swim. Dorothy had a passion for horses and enjoyed horse camping at Brookfield and Otter Creek.
She is survived by her husband, Robert; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jean and Terry Card of Westmoreland and Barbara and Tim Gauthier of Fort Collins, CO; three grandchildren, Dirk and Rebekah Card of Waterville, Parker Gauthier of Austin, TX, and Wesley Gauthier of Fort Collins, CO; two great-grandchildren, Chloe and Caleb Card; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Martha and George Fedor of NC and Evelyn and James Collins of Verona; a sister-in-law, Alice Sears of VT; and her nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and a brother James Sears.
A Memorial Service will be held in the Spring. Please consider donations in Dorothy's memory to Rome Humane Society. Arrangements by Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, Clinton.
