Dorothy Edna "Dottie" Martinez, age 91, of Sterling, VA passed away peacefully in her home on May 16, 2024. Dorothy was born on January 6, 1933, in New Castle, PA to the late Frank and Hannah Johnson. Cherished mother of David Martinez, of Las Vegas, Nevada, Susan (Paul) Martinez-Hueper and Jennifer (Stephen) Burstein both of Herndon, Virginia. Loving grandmother to Samantha Hueper, Jamie Hueper, Hannah Burstein and Justin Burstein. Survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Waiting for her at the door to heaven is her beautiful daughter Sandra Jean Martinez, sister Mary Lou (Johnson) George and brother Frank Johnson.

After graduating from Shenango High School in 1951, Dorothy moved to Washington, DC where she worked for the FBI as a stenographer and met her husband. Dorothy enjoyed many part-time jobs while her children were young. Dorothy was an employee of the United States Government and worked as an Administrative Assistant for the Federal Aviation Administration and ultimately for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration - National Weather Service in Coraopolis, PA from which she retired.

Dorothy was known for her sweet and generous nature. She had a love for baking - breads, cakes, cookies and especially pies - apple pie being her specialty. She loved being in the presence of those she loved and was a "dog mom" enjoying her many Cocker Spaniel dogs over the years (Samson, Schenley, Buff) and rescue - Toto.

The family is very grateful for the loving care given to Dorothy by the patient staff at Pacifica Senior Living in Sterling, VA and Capital Caring Hospice.

A celebration of life will be held at a future date with interment at Oak Park Cemetery, New Castle, PA.
