Dorothy L. Kane, age 92, died peacefully on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at St. Mary's Care Center in Madison. Dorothy was born on August 10, 1932, in Cassville, Wisconsin. She was the daughter of Margaret Dressen and Reiner Hochhausen. She was raised in rural Cassville; graduated from Cassville High School. She loved to dance - especially the polka and performed in many plays. She worked for Ray Eckstein Law Office, was a guide at Stonefield Museum and worked as a bookkeeper for Wisconsin Barge Line. She also volunteered at St. Charles Catholic Church. She worked in Verona at Marilyn Dreger's Law Office, and cleaned at Miller and Son's Supermarket and many homes. She also volunteered at St. Christopher Catholic Church. She was married to Robert Kane on September 13, 1951.
Dorothy was totally devoted to her family. She never forgot anyone's birthday, anniversary, special occasion or holidays. She was very caring and loving and always put others ahead of herself. She was an amazing listener and would give wise advice. Even when others could not see the good in a person Dorothy would find their best quality. She taught and reminded us to do the same. This special quality endeared her to so many. Her wish was "be happy". She was well-loved by all who knew her. She will be greatly missed.
Dorothy is survived by her two daughters, Brenda (Owen) Harried of Madison and Sheila "Tillie" (Ronald "Al") Vogt of Dodgeville and her son, Michael (Julie) Kane of Mount Horeb; 17 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; brother, Bill Hochhausen; brother, Jim Hochhausen (Janet); and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Reiner and Margaret Hochhausen; sister, Catherine Vogt and sister-in-law, Carrie Hochhausen.
