Dorothy June Fowler, 88, of Frederick, formerly of Barnesville, died on Saturday June 8, 2024 at the BridgingLife Hospice in Westminster.
She was the wife of the late Charles G. Fowler.
Born on April 15, 1936, in Roan Mountain, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Maggie (Miller) Heaton.
Her family would move to Maryland where she would meet and later marry Charles in 1955. After several moves around Gaithersburg, they would eventually settle in Barnesville in 1970. She loved gardening, bowling and prided herself on keeping a good home for her family. Active in the church (choir, bells and bible school) where she found a supportive second family, she also did volunteer work for various services. After Charles passed in 2005, she lived independently in Barnesville until a hospital stay in 2019. She would then live with her two children until late 2020 when her condition would necessitate a move to Spring Arbor in Frederick. There she enjoyed spending time with Frank, completing puzzles and enjoying activities.
Surviving are two children, Charles Fowler (Corby) of Frederick, Donna Cornett (Billy) of Union Bridge; two brothers and one sister, Guy Heaton (Ann), Frankie Hurd, Betty Cross (Bill), three grandchildren, Nicholas Fowler (Clementina), Tina Marie Warner (Dustin), Alyssa Fowler: one great grandchild, Jana Marie Warner.
Dot was very close to her husband's family and is survived by three sister-in-laws and five brother-in-laws, Martha Reed (Bill), Ruth Stambaugh, Rosa Bollinger (Voine), Robert Fowler (Cindy), Eddie Fowler (Pauline), Howard Fowler (Bonnie), Kenny Shumaker (Carol), Wilmer Fowler (Becky).
She is also survived by a special friend, Frank Quaglietta.
Dorothy is preceded in death by two sisters and five brothers, Helen Hughes, Naomi Odom, Robert, George, Melvin, Richard and Billy Heaton; two sister-in-laws, Dorothy Davidson, Virginia Gravely and four brother-in-laws, William, Frank, Harry and Carl Fowler.
The family will be receiving friends on Friday, June 14, from 10 - 11 AM, at the Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Rd., Barnesville, where funeral services will begin at 11 AM. Pastor Danny Moore, a close family friend, will officiate.
Interment will follow in Monocacy Cemetery, Beallsville.
