Dorothy HickersonDorothy Hickerson, 99, of Midland, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Saturday May, 21, 2022, at MyMichigan Health Center, Midland. She was born on April 9, 1923, to the late Eugene and Florence (Dickson) Welling. She grew up in Midland and graduated from Midland High School. In Midland on February 28, 1942, she married the love of her life, the late Donald Hickerson, and together they raised seven daughters. Dorothy was a homemaker, and after her children were grown, she decided to become rural mail carrier. She was a long-time member of Gordonville United Methodist Church and was a 4H leader. Dorothy had a passion for teaching people things, be it quilting, gardening, sewing. She loved spending time with family, crafting of all types, and genealogy.Dorothy is survived by her daughters Judy (John) Gerhart, Vicki Sorenson, Beth (Roger) McIntosh, Kelly Kucharek, Kari (Kevin) Andrews, and Jody (Dan) Greaney. She will also be missed by her 21 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren; son-in-law Kurt Hufnagel; many nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Donald Hickerson, daughter Jennifer Hufnagel, brother Wayne Welling, sister Kitte Horden, and son-in-law Vern Sorensen.Services for Dorothy will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 28, 2022, from Gordonville United Methodist Church located at 76 E Gordonville Rd, Midland. Reverend Micheal Kelley will officiate with burial at Lee Township Cemetery following the service. Dorothy's family will receive friends at the church for visitation from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Gordonville United Methodist Church or the Chippewa Nature Center. Arrangements for Dorothy have been entrusted to the care of the Ware Smith Woolever Funeral Directors.
