Dorothy G. Pendarvis, widow of Joseph David Pendarvis, Jr., entered into eternal rest on Sunday, August 28, 2022.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday at Zion United Methodist Church with Rev. Palmer Hudson and Rev. Robert Hoover officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bobby Chapman, Ronnie Givens, Steve Kizer, Alex Marchant, Chris Clayton and Mike Taylor. Visitation will be an hour before the service in the church.
Dorothy was born on November 14, 1928, in Lee's (Bamberg County), a daughter of the late James Wilbur and Virginia Ayer Grimes. She was a graduate of the Orangeburg Nursing School and was a retired Registered Nurse with the Charleston Army Depot. She was a member of the Zion United Methodist Church, founding member of the Ivy Garden Club and Red Hat Society, Duchess of Dorchester and an avid bridge player. She was predeceased by her siblings, Carolyn G. Steele, Sarah Grimes and James Wilbur Grimes and her stepmother, Nina Priester Grimes.
Surviving are her sons, Joseph David (Betty) Pendarvis, III and Wilbur Grimes (Angie Kizer) Pendarvis, all of St. George; grandchildren, Lesley P. (Michael) Creel, North Charleston and Joseph Horne (Patricia) Pendarvis, Dorchester; great-grandchildren, Sarah Creel, Alex Marchant, Rebecca Pendarvis and Abigail Pendarvis.
