Dorothy Langley Farmer, 80, of Wilson, passed away Monday at Accordius Health of Wilson. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am Friday, in the chapel of Shingleton Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery. The Rev. Paul Castelli and Ray Parker will officiate. Visitation will be Thursday from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Shingleton Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at other times at the home of her son, Thomas Farmer, 1806 Wildwood Court, Wilson. Dorothy worked for many years at Devil-Dog in Lucama and Wilson and Wilson Apparel until the textile industry closed. She then worked for Wilson County Schools in the cafeteria of Elm City Elementary and last at Wee School of Wilson. Dorothy loved reading, watching TV with her family, the outdoors, her flowers, singing at church and at home, cooking, bright colors and most of all, her family. Mama`s favorite time of the year was Christmas. Dorothy will be greatly missed and thought of often with loving memories. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Dickie Farmer; parents, Elton Mac "Bud" and Mary Lee Langley; siblings, Jean Page, Bobby Langley, and Willard Langley; and son-in-law, Gordon Parrish.Dorothy is survived by her son, Thomas Farmer; daughters, Sherry Farmer Bass (Russ) and Lori Farmer Parrish, all of Wilson; a sister, Alice L. Morgan of Wilson; granddaughters, Brandi Bass Parker (Jonathon) of Elm City and Rebekah R. Parrish of Wilson; great-grandchildren, Levi Parker, Lana Parker, and Van Parker, all of Elm City, and her granddogs, Scarlett, Xero, and Biscuit. Arrangements are by Shingleton Funeral Home.
