Dorothy Tapp Eacho passed away at her home in Harlingen, TX on June 28th , 2021.
She was born in Chincoteague, VA on November 18th, 1953. She was a true navy brat, traveling extensively as a child. She attended school in Freeport, Maine followed by Key West, Florida, Kingsville, Texas, and graduated from King High School, Corpus Christi, Texas. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Southwest Texas State University, San Marcos.
Dorothy worked many years in sales of heavy equipment. A real trailblazer for her generation of women, taking a different path in industrial arts. She was the only young woman taking electricity and welding, one in a class of 90 young men.
After college, she met and married Jeb Eacho, and they made their home in the Rio Grande Valley. They welcomed their son Derek with love and both parents played an active role in his upbringing. They enjoyed sailing and beach activities. With her love of life, music and dancing, she was a real people person, brightening any room she walked into. Dorothy was a true friend to so many and will be greatly missed.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Jonathan Jeb Eacho, her father, William Lejune Tapp and her brother-in-law, Michael Pemberton.
She is survived by her son, Derek Eacho, daughter-in-law, Nikki Eacho, and grandchildren Lawson Eacho and Piper Eacho. They brought great joy to her life.
She is also survived by her mother, Betty Orth Tapp of Harlingen, two sisters, Jeannie Pemberton of Longview and Patsy Tapp Darnell of Tyler and her lifelong best friend, Leah Binford of San Augustine.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Harlingen South Speech, Drama and Debate Team. Please contact Eddy Cavazos at [email protected] for details.
