Dorothy "Dee" Decker went on to be with the Lord on Friday, March 18, 2022, at the age of 90 years old. Born on January 13, 1932, Dee was proud to be a "green-eyed, red headed Yankee" who transplanted from Rochester, New York with her father to build a life in deep South Texas in her teen years. She was a devoted wife of 62 years to S.A. Decker and was a loving mother to Beth Decker and Kathy Gannaway. She is proceeded in death by her husband S.A. "Cap" Decker and daughter Beth Decker. She is survived by daughter Kathy Gannaway, her three granddaughters, 5 great grandchildren and countless family and friends who were blessed to know her.
Dee was secretary for the TB Hospital formerly in Harlingen, TX and administrator at Texas Sweet of Mission Tx. She spread her love and talent with Pan American University in the Newsletter and making speeches with the Certified Public Secretaries association. Dee retired as the Director of Personnel for the City of Edinburg and approached both her professional and personnel life and relationships with integrity, dedication, passion and sincerity.
Dee was born to Marion Louise Crandall Shepard and Norman Kenneth Shepard. Her sister was Norma Louise Shepard Shultz.
Dee's smile, laughter and genuine spirit will be forever missed by those fortunate enough to know her. She trusted in God to take care of things she could not control, and it is that grace and dignity that she leaves with us.
