Dorothy Pauline Black Yates, 88, of Ringgold, Georgia died Sunday, May 29, 2022 in an area hospital. A lifelong resident of the Ringgold area, she was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church and a former employee of Sweetwater Carpet. A wonderful mother and grandmother and will be missed by many. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Clyde W. “Sonny” Jones; second husband, John Porter Yates; parents, James Black Sr., and Matty Brown Black; two sisters, Nell Jones and Shirley Black; and two brothers, Roland “Bo” Black and Thomas Black. She is survived by three sons, Tony (Donna) Jones, Mark (Janice) Yates, and Kent Yates; sister, Doris Hester; two brothers, James “Cotton” Black Jr., and Charles Black; five grandchildren, Thad Yates, William (Jessica) Yates, Cameron (Kristin) Yates, Anthony (Rebecca) Jones and Brian (Lisa) Jones; six great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held 2:00 P.M. Thursday at Anderson Cemetery with Bro. James Baker officiating. The family will receive friends 4-8 P.M. Wednesday and 9 A.M. until 1:30 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Ebenezer Baptist Church, 77 Hackett Road Ringgold, GA. 30736.
