Dorothea "Joan" (Murray) Minto, of Merrill Road, Springfield, departed this life on July 12, 2022, surrounded by her family. Born, Dorothea B. Murray in Salem, St. Ann, Jamaica, she was the oldest of 11 children. Joan immigrated to the United States in 1979 where she lived in Enfield, CT, and then relocated to Springfield, MA. In 1999, she achieved her dream of becoming a License Practical Nurse (LPN). She worked as an Agency LPN at several nursing care facilities throughout Western Massachusetts and in South Windsor, CT. She lived in Knightdale then Raleigh, North Carolina from 2008 to 2017. There she worked as an LPN, and as a PRN Nurse. Joan was passionate about nursing and was loved and respected by her supervisors, coworkers, and patients. She contributed generously to several charities including St Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Save the Children, Ducks Unlimited, and Shriners Hospital. She was a devoted member of Grace & Glory Apostolic Church, Enfield, CT. She is survived by two sons, Floyd (& Yvette), and Marcel (& Deanna), both of Springfield; four daughters, Gemini of Apopka, FL; Shawna (& Garfield), Maxine (& Steve), both of Springfield, and Michaila, of Durham, NC; two brothers, Karlton (& Florence); and Ferdinand (& Darnett); 9 sisters, Maureen (& Glenn); Laverne (& Barrington), Donette; Karen (& Floyd), and Dawn, Carla (& Michael); Vinette, and Dorreth; Marcia (& Noel); 2 aunts, Pearlena and Lynneth; 7 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; an abundance of nieces, nephews, grand-nieces/grand-nephews, cousins, extended family and her Grace and Glory church family. Her mother, Lucille, and Father Charles, both pre-deceased her. Calling Hours are 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Friday, July 22, 2022, at St Mark Armenian Church at 2427 Wilbraham Road, Springfield, MA, followed by the homegoing celebration at 11:30 a.m. with burial at Hillcrest Park Cemetery on Parker Street, Springfield.
