Doris Wester, 90, of Gainesville Florida passed away July 16, 2022 surrounded by the love of her family and her devoted caregivers. Doris is survived by her daughters Doris Foss of Portsmouth RI, Geri Farah of Gainesville FL, Lynda O'Brien of Melrose FL and her son George O'Brien of Brooker FL, 12 Grandchildren, 23 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great- Great Grandchildren. Doris was born on June 14, 1932 in Brooklyn New York. As a child she was doted on by her parents Marie and Charles Wetterer, brother Elwood Wetterer and her Beloved Uncle Freddie. In keeping with the times, Doris was a traditional stay at home wife and mother. When her children were grown, she opened her own business OB's Sweet Shop. The inspiration for this endeavor came from her love of cream and fond memories of she and her dad visiting the old time ice cream parlors in her home state of NY. Always looking for a new challenge, she went on to work for the Florida Farm Bureau in Gainesville where she was a Personnel Administrator for 18 years. Doris loved her work with the Farm Bureau where she made many lasting friendships. In her personal life, she enjoyed her horses, feeding the wild life that visited her yard and gardens, decorating her home, cooking for family gatherings, playing the piano, singing in the church choir, teaching Sunday School and traveling to New England to visit family and enjoy her favorite meal of Maine lobster.A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, July 23rd at 1 pm, in the auditorium of The Florida Farm Bureau, 5700 S.W. 34th Street Gainesville FL 32608. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Peaceful Paths Domestic Abuse Network, 2100 N.W. 53rd Ave Suite A, Gainesville FL 32653 http://www.peacefulpaths.org.Doris's family wishes to thank the staff at Plantation Oaks Assisted Living in High Springs and the nurses from Vitas Healthcare for the dedicated, loving round the clock care given to Doris during her final months.
