Doris Faye Warnecke (Richey) died peacefully, with her family by her side on Wednesday, June 10, 2020 in Fishers, Indiana at the age of 89.
She was proceeded in death by her husband, Harold Warnecke. She is survived by her four children, Doug Warnecke (Linda), Deborah Benton Roman (Dan), Brad Warnecke (Terri), and Cindy Scott (Craig). Brother Sonny Richey (Barb), of Helena Montana and brother Donald Richey of Idaho. 8 grandchildren,
13 great grandchildren, and many nephews, nieces and great nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her sister Edith Delahunt. Doris was born on November 13, 1930 in Highland Illinois. She graduated from Carlyle High School in 1948. She married Harry, the love of her life, on May 6, 1950. After living for a while in Carlyle Illinois, they moved to Defiance Ohio, then Shelbyville Indiana and several other locations as Harry's career with the natural gas industry advanced. Doris was a kind, loving soul who never thought about herself, but always those around her. She worked for many years in banking, retiring after Harry's last promotion and retirement. Doris made sure her children had braces, glasses, music lessons, dance lessons etc. She loved to sew, stich, crochet and she loved her dolls, and many cats she owned over the years. She always wanted to know what her kids and grandchildren were up to, were they happy, keeping busy, did they have lots of friends, and always worried that everyone was safe. She loved talking politics, had a sense of humor and loved to tease. Doris was a sharp cookie right to the very end. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her world. She always had a piece of chocolate or gum in her purse and they knew it! She never wanted to miss a birthday, and sending them a card, even when she had trouble getting around, was a must do task. Every holiday she had a special dish for all, dad's favorite oyster dressing at Thanksgiving, a bunny cake for the kids at Easter, and her famous banana nut bread. Rest in Peace Mom. Until we meet again. We love you. The family would like to thank the St. Vincent's Hospice staff and Senior Care 1 aids for their kindness and care.
