The Lord sent His angels to escort our Mom into His presence from this world last Tuesday afternoon, May 28th. It is with confident assurance we know she is dwelling there with our Father, Jack, our other family saints, and all those whom have accepted the call of Salvation from our Lord Jesus.
Mom was blessed to live a very full and active life. Her priorities were her relationship with the Lord and service within His church, unswerving devotion to her husband for over 61 years, love and care of us children, and as they came into the family love and care of her daughters-in-love, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She sent cards for all the special events and occasions in the family. She spoiled us with traditional family meals, all kinds of special treats - including probably our most favorite and fought over - chocolate pie. Along with Dad, she taught us the importance of God's Word, living Truth, and expressing compassion and care to others.
Mom honored the Lord by service in her local church. She is a charter member of Bethany Baptist Church, having served as Historian, Sunday School teacher, Deacon's wife, and Interim Music Director at various times.
Mom set the bar high for educational achievement in our family. She "aced" nearly every grade card she ever received. She graduated Valedictorian of her class at Loudon High School and was a member of the Beta Club. Mom attended Union College in Barbourville, KY for two years and then served a one year internship at Nashville General Hospital in the field of Medical Technology.
She and Dad both worked to provide for our family. She served as Medical Technologist and Xray Technician for 37 years at Loudon Clinic, then moved on to serve 21 years in the clerical position at Loudon County Health Department. Yes, your addition is correct; she served 58 years in the medical field.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Jackson (Jack) Hodge; Parents, Joseph (Joe) Henry and Velma Olivia (Crouch) Hudson; Brothers, Robert and Randolph Hudson; Sister, Alice Jo (Hudson) Hooker.
She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law ; Joseph Michael "Joe Mike" and Judith Diane (Dauphin) Hodge, Manchester, TN; Roy Paul "RP" and Evelyn Jeanine (Tuten) Hodge, Brunson, SC; Grandchildren: Joshua Michael and Jessica Mariah (Apple) Hodge; Hardie Andrew "Hap" and Jeanna Anne (Hodge) Parsons; Jennifer Diane Hodge; Jeremy Paul Hodge; Jonathan "Jon" Tyler and Kaylen "Kayli" (Buckley) Hodge; Justin Ryan Hodge;
Great Grandchildren: Cruz Bradley Hodge; Knox Olin Hodge; Natalie Ann Hodge; Leah Charlotte Hodge; Sister-law: Shirley Hodge-Johnson, Lenoir City; Special loved Nephew and Niece: Harold and Margaret Amburn and many other loved nieces and nephews.
