Mrs. Doris Joanne Dahlke, 93, of Sharpsburg, GA, passed away Monday, March 18, 2024, at Legacy Ridge Assisted Living in Peachtree City. She was born October 18, 1930, in Sandusky, Ohio to the late Alvin Daniel Reinke and Fredericka Koch Reinke.
Doris is survived by her son, Daniel F. Dahlke of Ballwin, MO, daughter Pamela S. Ehlers of Fayetteville, GA, and son Douglas (Eve) H. Dahlke of Hampton, GA.; grandchildren Daniel (Kristen) Dahlke of Greenville, GA, Dora (Justin) Linville of Aberdeen, SD, Isaiah Arpino (Holly) of Altoona, PA, and Sarah (Steffan) Langguth of Pittsburg, PA. Doris was so very proud and loved bragging about her 13 beautiful great-grandchildren along with her nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her brother Donald Reinke, sister Alfreda (William) Dahmer, her brother Paul Reinke, and her daughter Denise Arpino.
Doris grew up in Sandusky, OH. Activities included, but were not limited to Girl Scouts, Camp Fire Girls, sewing for the Red Cross during the war, Luther League, fundraising for TB, and the Sandusky Sailing Club. Doris graduated from Sandusky High School in 1948 as a star student achieving Honor Roll all four years. She was active in the Girls Athletic Association, Drama Club, band, and the yearbook staff.
She later attended Capital University in Columbus, OH majoring in elementary education. Doris also excelled at Capital in both academics and activities. She served on the Campus Council, the newspaper staff, the yearbook staff, the Christian Student Fellowship, the Kappa Sigma Theta sorority, the Lutheran Student Association, and the Red Cross.
Shortly before graduation in 1952, she married Howard C. Dahlke, a Navy man. They moved to Florida and started a family. Navy transfers subsequently took the family to CA, OH, and IL. Doris was a schoolteacher for many years and greatly enjoyed her time with the students.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at Word of God Lutheran Church, 4486 East Highway 34, Sharpsburg, GA with Pastor Jason Dampier officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Music Ministry at Word of God Lutheran Church, Special Olympics of Georgia, and Luther Home of Mercy in Williston, OH.
