She graduated from Port Washington High School and attended Geneseo State Teachers College in Geneseo, NY. Doris loved spending time with her family and grandchildren at her home on Halls Lake and her parents' summer home in Shelter Island, Long Island, NY. Thanksgiving was her favorite holiday when she would be delighted to have her family all together.
Doris loved her "Atkinson Family" where she spiced up everyone's life there and will be missed by everyone who knew her. The Atkinson Residence is a unique small-town gem that Doris named "The Inn" where she felt loved and cared for by the staff and other residents.
