Doreen Williams, a longtime resident of Hanover, NH passed away peacefully on August 5, 2022. Doreen was born and raised in Berlin, NH. Doreen graduated from Berlin High School, class of 1948 and a graduate of Linden School for Girls class of 1950. Doreen moved to Hanover, NH where she joined St. Thomas Episcopal Church and sang in the church choir for over 50 years. Doreen worked as a research assistant at the Dartmouth Medical Center and then worked at the Howe Library for 20 years and retired in 2009. She enjoyed reading, history, current events, traveling and most of all her loved her good friends and family. She was always prepared to trudge forth through the snow and bask in the sun always enjoyed being the woman about town. She was proud and while serious, loved to joke and laugh. Doreen loved her friends, family and community, participated in many organizations and always kept current on events happening locally and worldwide. She never forgot a person's name or where she had been on her travels. Doreen is survived by her niece, Cynthia (Barnes) Winter and husband Steve, and nephew, Randall Barnes. Doreen is preceded in death by her sister, Evadne (Williams) Barnes and her parents Henry and Elsie Williams.
Thank you to St. Thomas Church for your friendship and the wonderful community Doreen loved, to all her friends, and to Genesis Lebanon Center for the loving care. The mighty New Englander's spirit will forever be with us. Live Free or Die!
A service will be held on October 6, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 9 West Wheelock Street, Hanover, NH. A reception at the Church will follow.
