Dorcas Edwards Meade, 93, of Sevierville TN, long time resident of Duffield, VA, originally from Pound, VA went home to glory on February 25, 2021. She died peacefully in her sleep at home with her family.
She was born on February 22, 1928, the twelfth of fourteen siblings to the late Eli and Laura Edwards. She was known by a variety of nicknames by her family and friends, but she will most fondly be remembered as "Mamaw", the name she was most proud to be called and the role that she flourished in.
Dorcas was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She loved music, singing, crocheting, rock collecting, bird watching, playing cards, and Jesus. Time spent with her family - especially the children - was her greatest joy.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Hayes Meade.
Survivors include her Children: son Danny Meade and daughter-in-law Pamela, daughter Melinda Manning and son-in-law Bobby Manning; Grandchildren: Stephanie Meade, Robb Meade, Tommy Roberts (wife Kristie), Julie Solon (husband Nicholas), and Camie Manning (Nathan Nicholson); as well as Great-grandchildren: Tyler, Cody, and Weston Meade. Cole, Thomas, Eli, and Emma Roberts. Eleanor and August Solon. Sagan and Ivy Jean Nicholson.
In addition, she is survived by her Sisters: Josephine Alderman and Virginia Ensenat, close family members: Joann Conrad, Liz Neimeier, Phyllis Tompkins, Johnny and Lura Tompkins, Jimmy Tompkins, Betty Belcher, Mildred Gibson, and Roger Stallard; special care givers and friends Becky Dodgen and Brandy Ford.

The family will receive friends 3-5 PM Sunday February 28th with a funeral service to follow at 5 PM in the West Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home with Rev. Tommy Roberts officiating. Everyone in attendance will be required to wear a mask social distancing will be observed. Family and friends will meet 11 AM Monday March 1st in McKinney Cemetery for interment.
