Aberdeen, SD: The funeral for Donna Jean Swenson was Friday, July 22, 2022 at Highlanda Lutheran Church of Langford. Rev. Dr. Ramona Hayes officiated. Interment was at the Highlanda Cemetery.
Donna Jean Johnson was born July 25, 1938 at Peabody Hospital in Webster, SD to Carl O. and Myrtle (Monson) Johnson. She was baptized and confirmed at the Fron Lutheran Church in Roslyn, SD. She went to Roslyn High School and graduated in May 1952.
In 1957 she married Roy Scott. They moved to Cumming, Georgia where they lived for 17 years. She worked in a restaurant as a waitress and cook. Roy passed away in November 1974 and Donna moved back to South Dakota the spring of 1975. She lived in Langford and was a cook at Swede's Corner.
In June of 1985 she married Paul Swenson. In February 1986 they purchased the Frontier Lounge in Pierpont, SD and she worked there until retiring in May 2008. In October 2008 they moved to Aberdeen, SD. Paul passed away in March 2009 and she continued to make her home in Aberdeen.
Donna enjoyed reading, watching tv, playing cards, and listening to country western music. She was an avid listener to Country Legends Jukebox with Jay Dean. Family was important to Donna and she loved spending time with her siblings and their families.
Donna passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2022 at her home in Aberdeen, at the age of 83.
Grateful for having shared her life are her siblings: Edna (Dennis) Nelson of Langford, Helen Sumption of Aberdeen, Mary Lindquist of Webster, Sally Skeide of Aberdeen, Ruth Mikkonen of Aberdeen, Ann Milbrandt of Aberdeen, John (Rosie) Johnson of Oakdale, MN and Kenneth (Linda) Johnson of Baltic, SD; and her many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husbands: Roy Scott and Paul Swenson; sister, Lois Zubke; brothers: Jerry Johnson and James Johnson; three nieces; one nephew; and three brothers-in-law.
