Donna Marie Prescher, 94, of Kasson passed away at her residence at Prairie Meadows Sr. Living Center, Kasson on Tuesday, October 29. She was born Donna Marie Green in Slayton, MN on October 27, 1925 to Clyde and Edna Green. She attended Hader, MN grade school, Zumbrota High School for one semester until the family relocated to Granada, MN where she was graduated from High School in 1942. Her post high school education included two years at the University of Minnesota before transferring to the Kahler School of Nursing in Rochester, MN where she graduated in 1947.
On November 1, 1947, Donna married Leonard Leo Prescher. Donna and Leonard moved to Minneapolis where Donna started her nursing career while Leonard finished his schooling at Dunwoody Institute. Upon Leonard's graduation, they moved to Slayton, MN followed by a move to Austin, MN and ultimately to Kasson in 1958 where they started an electrical business which continued for 38 years. In 1975, they acquired the Kasson Hotel, converting it into an apartment building where they would later reside.
Donna was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Kasson. She was also active in the Eastern Star for 50 years, was a member of Rochester's Oriental Shrine and at one time served as chairman of the Dodge County Republicans. She enjoyed playing golf, card games, Yahtzee and other marble games. Leonard and Donna enjoyed traveling including houseboating, RV'ing, ocean cruising and international travel.
Survivors include her son, Bruce Prescher; grandchildren, Rick and Ross (Torrey) Prescher; sister, Norma Swingdorf; sister-in-law, Lois Schulzen; brother-in-law, Maynard (LaVeta) Prescher and many nieces, nephews and friends.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, November 4, at St. John's Lutheran Church, 301 8th Ave NW, Kasson with Pastor Nirmala Reinschmidt officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Burial will follow the service at Grandview Memorial Gardens, Rochester.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials be directed to the Mayo Clinic for Parkinson's Disease research or to the charity of the donor's choice.
