Donna L. Dobbins, 77, of Shirley, Indiana, former Decatur County resident, passed away
Wednesday, December 13, 2021 at Hancock Regional Hospital.
Born March 20, 1943 in Joliet, Illinois to Otis Thorson and Francis (Hillsman) Thorson.
She married Eugene Dobbins in March 1975 and he preceded her in May of 2003.
Survivors include children- Mary Gerrian (husband Dale) of St. Paul, Charlene Turpin
(husband David) of Wilkinson, Kevin Dobbins (wife Anna) of Milford; 4 stepchildren-
Janet Adkins (husband Walker) of Fairland, Judy Fuller (husband Tim) of Shelbyville,
Thomas Dobbins (fiance Serena Baker) of Fountaintown, Robin Griffin (husband Phil)
of St. Paul; brother- James Thorson(wife Litha) of Morris, IL; many grandchildren and
great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, spouse, step
daughter Joyce Case and grandson Lucas Dobbins.
Mrs. Dobbins had lived in this area most of her lifetime and was a homemaker. Donna
delivered meals for seniors for CICOA for 20 plus years and was a member of Shelby
Senior Center. Donna enjoyed playing cards and Bingo at the senior center, reading,
giving others a helping hand, and loved her cat Bubba.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am, Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at Glenn E. George
and Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Rd, with Rev. Harvey Weaver officiating. Friends
may call on Wednesday from 9:00 am until the time of the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers please make donations to Shelby Senior Center Food Pantry in
care of the funeral home.
