
Donald Glenn Wheeldon
A wonderful son, brother, uncle, husband, father and grandfather.
Services for Retired Sgt. 1st Class Donald Glenn Wheeldon, 48, of Copperas Cove, were held Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at the Crawford-Bowers-Brown Funeral Home Chapel in Copperas Cove. Chaplin Phil Payne officiated the funeral.
Wheeldon died Saturday at his home. He was born Feb. 18, 1943, in Grants Pass, Ore., and was reared and educated in Dallas, Ore. Wheeldon had lived in the Copperas Cove area for 14 years. He was an assistant maintenance supervisor at Metroplex Hospital since 1981, and founded the Dialogue cancer support group at the hospital. The Metroplex pediatric ward was dedicated in his honor. Wheeldon retired from the U.S. Army in 1980 after more than 20 years of service and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. Wheeldon was a Seventh Day Adventist and a member of the Texas Hospital Association.
He is survived by his wife, Naomi Ruth Wheeldon, whom he married on May 17, 1963; one son, Ronald Wheeldon of Copperas Cove; two daughters, Teresa Barnes of Copperas Cove and Tanya Callahan of Huntsville; three brothers, Hugh Wheeldon of Ypsilanti, Mich.; Gene Wheeldon of Independence, Ore.; and Clyde Wheeldon of Washington; one sister, Anita Luem [sic] of Lebanon, Ore.; and five grandchildren.
Crawford-Bowers-Brown Funeral Home of Copperas Cove was in charge of funeral arrangements.
