Donald Martin Vernon Jr of La Plata, Maryland passed away on Sunday, August 11, 2024.
Donald was born August 3, 1937 to the late Donald Sr and Louise Vernon in Washington, DC. He was a 1954 graduate of Archbishop Carroll High School. Donald served in the DC Air National Guard and the United States Air Force Reserves and received Honorable Discharges from both. Donald worked for over 30 years with the C&P telephone company. Upon retirement from C&P, he worked several years with the B. Frank Joy and Company.
Donald's interests included fishing, hunting (always ready for the opening day of deer season) including hunting trips around the country and Canada, hanging out with his Southern Maryland Hunt Club buddies, travelling the world with his beloved Roseanne, and entertaining and being entertained by family and friends. He loved his family most of all.
In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his beloved Roseanne and his son Michael Charles Vernon Sr.
Donald is survived by his daughters Lora Vernon-Kidd (Michael) and Julianne Vernon Zutant (Jason), his grandson Michael Charles Vernon Jr (Bonnie), his great-grandchildren Jett Michael Vernon and Ruby Roseanne Vernon, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation will be at Raymond's Funeral Service on Saturday, August 24, 2024 from 10:00a - 12:00p. The service will be at 12:00p.
