Donald Ray Trent, 94, New Albany, OH, formerly of Friedens, died March 31, 2021. Born October 5, 1926 in Friedens, son of Mervin and Grace (Walker) Trent. Preceded in death by parents, wife of 56 years the former Mary Catherine Pile, brothers: Bruce, Jay, Mervin and Robert Trent, and sisters: Betty Weaver, Nora Sechler and Pauline Hoover. Survived by daughter Melody married to Kevin Berg, Gahanna, OH, son Bradley Trent married to the former Sharon Sparks, Leesburg, VA; grandchildren: Westly Tibbs (Cindy), Anastasia Trent, Maeve Henry (Nathan), Austin & Spencer Berg and great granddaughters: Nora & Isla Henry and brother Lewis Trent. He was a W.W. II Navy Veteran serving on the USS Santee and was a retired carpenter. He was a gifted craftsman and enjoyed building furniture, making wooden baskets and creating stained glass artwork. He loved spending time with family and friends at Redwood and was always ready for a good conversation. He was a member of Friedens Lutheran Church and a former member of the Stoystown Lions Club. The family is very grateful for the wonderful care from the First & Main staff and Capital City Hospice as we navigated the pandemic. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Friedens Lutheran Church. Masks and social distancing required. Viewing from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday when the Trent & Pile family will gather for a private service at Friedens Lutheran Church, which will be live streamed on the Deaner Funeral Home Facebook Page. Bishop Gregory Pile officiating. Interment Somerset County Memorial Park. Graveside Military Rites by Somerset Co. Honor Guard. Arrangements entrusted to Deaner Funeral Home, Stoystown.
