Donald Gary Sumpter, 83, of Nampa, passed away peacefully in his sleep the morning of June 29, 2021.
He was born on June 21, 1938, in Centerville, Iowa to Boyd and Pauline Sumpter. In 1956, he graduated from Centerville High School. Don married Lois Woolery on September 27, 1965 in Winterhaven, California. Previously from Hesperia, California, Don was a sixteen-year resident of Nampa, Idaho. He worked for 30 years as an appliance service technician for General Electric (GE). After retiring from GE, Don managed Desert View Escrow in Hesperia, which he co-owned for 15 years with his wife. Don was also a real estate investor, who built and sold spec homes in the Victor Valley for many years. He was a generous son, a wonderful father, a devoted husband, an amazing brother and a very loving grandfather to his granddaughters Samantha and Sarah. Don enjoyed fishing, traveling, boating, and RVing. He was a member of Bethel Nazarene Church, and is now home with his Savior in heaven.
He was preceded in death by his wife and parents. He leaves behind his daughter Deborah Ungles of Dallas, Texas, his son Grant, daughter-in-law Angie, and granddaughters Samantha and Sarah of Kuna, Idaho, twin sister Diane Steele of Manhattan, Kansas, sister Cheryl Scieszinski of Albia, Iowa, brother Mark Sumpter of Apple Valley, California, brother Doug Sumpter of Artesia, California, and sister Joyce Tullius of Upland, California.
Viewing and visitation will be Tuesday, July 6, 2021 from 5 to 7 PM at Nampa Funeral Home Yraguen Chapel, 415 12th Ave. S., Nampa, Idaho. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10 AM on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at Bethel Church of the Nazarene, 3001 12th Ave. Rd., Nampa. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Caldwell.
