Donald Wayne Starkey, 88, of Logan, Ohio, went home to be with Jesus on Saturday, April 2, 2022, at his home.
Born January 25, 1934 in Tyler County, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Wayne Wilson and Wilda Madge (Hubbard) Starkey.
Donald was a faithful member of the Avlon United Brethren in Christ Church in Bremen, Ohio, where he served in many ways. He was a member of Teamster's Union for over 40 years, retiring as an over-the-road truck driver from Yellow Freight Systems. Donald spent his spare time enjoying his farm. Over the years, he tended to cattle, gardens, goats, a horse and numerous dogs and cats. He and his wife enjoyed going to farm auctions around the county. Donald was always in pursuit of a new "old" tractor.
He is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn Patricia (Howdyshell) Starkey. They were married on February 11, 1956. Donald is also survived by two sons, Duane (Debbie) Starkey and Doug (Danielle) Starkey both of Logan, Ohio and daughter-in-law, Heather Starkey of Gilbert, Arizona; two daughters, Teri Hockman of Middleport, Ohio and Melanie (Tony) Basconi of Beckley, West Virginia; 14 grandchildren, Dawn (Ray) Breagel, Aaron (Christine) Hockman, Amber (Jeff) Sharratt, Jayme (Jason) Jones, Brandon (Jasmine) Wharton, Cory (Holly) Wharton, Austin Starkey, Khloe Starkey, TJ Basconi, Alyson (Brandon) Treadway, Whitney Basconi, Benjamen Starkey, Brandon Hiles, Rachael Hiles; 13 great-grandchildren, Haylee, Brooke, Sydney, Aslynn, Alexis, Dylan, Josey, Harper, Alexander, Landon, Cooper, Mason and Roman.
Besides his parents, Donald was preceded in death by one son, David Starkey; two brothers, Ronald and Gary Starkey and son-in-law, Dennis Hockman.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 23, 2022 at Roberts Funeral Home in Logan, Ohio with Reverend Jason Sheets and Reverend Charles Wheatley officiating.
Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery, Rushcreek Township, Fairfield County, Ohio.
Friends may call Saturday, from 11:30 a.m. until the time of the service, at the funeral home.
