Donald F. Speldrich, 86 of Belgrade, died Friday, March 8, 2024 at his home surrounded by family. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 14, 2024 at St. Francis deSales Catholic Church in Belgrade. Visitation was from 5- 8 pm Wednesday at the Johnson Funeral Home in Belgrade and for one hour prior to the service at church. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Donald Frank Speldrich was born on March 10, 1937, in Belgrade, the son of Paul and Edith (Strike) Speldrich. He grew up on the family farm north of Belgrade and attended country grade school. On October 1, 1960, Donny was united in marriage to Anna Mae Hiltner at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Melrose. They made their home in Belgrade where he worked for Gordhammer Meat Market before moving to the farm northeast of Belgrade. They farmed for 36 years before retiring and moving into town in 2002. In retirement he helped at Felling Dairy and Belgrade Livestock.
Donny was a member of St Francis deSales Catholic Church. He enjoyed playing cards with his children and grandchildren, listening to old time music and watching game shows.
Donald died on Friday March 8, 2024 at his home surrounded by family two days short of his 87th birthday. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Anna Mae; children, Debbie (Gerald) Wolbeck, Gail (Mark) VanHavermaet, Gary (Amy) Speldrich, Judy (Chad) Butler and Randy (Rachel) Speldrich; 16 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; sisters, Irene Hiltner, Roselene Poepping and Carolyn Hiltner and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gerald "Buckwheat" Speldrich and brothers-in-law, Gilbert Poepping, Melvin Hiltner and Cyril Hiltner.
