Don R. Scott, 80, of Honolulu, passed away on Monday, June 28, 2021. He is survived by Kathryn, his wife of 47 years; his son, Robert and two grandsons, Beckett and Will.
Born on December 14, 1940, in Spokane, Washington, Don was an avid Boy Scout and played on his high school football team, the Lewis and Clark Tigers. He saw Fats Domino at his first rock and roll concert and liked to soup up cars.
He moved to Hawaii in 1962 with a group of his high school friends. They later became known as "The Sharks" as they each got an identical shark tattoo on the top of their foot. Together they managed and lived in a bar called Humbums in Waikiki. Don later worked as a mechanic at Sears Ala Moana and managed hotels.
In 1972 Don became assistant manager at Kahala McDonald's. There he met and began courting Kathy Pang. A year later they married and remained so until his passing. Over many loving years, Don and Kat have enjoyed camping, visiting family, casino hopping and travelling to all 50 states.
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 26, at 10 am at Diamond Head Mortuary Chapel. Services begin at 1030 am followed by inurnment at 1230 pm at Diamond Head Memorial Park. Casual attire.
