Donald Encil Rist, born January 16, 1937, in Uniontown PA, was called home for his VIP credentials on January 15, 2022, just one day shy of his 85th birthday. Don is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Lois Jane (Suder) Rist and leaves behind five children, Gary Rist, Donna (Rist) Pace (Glenn), William Rist (Louise), Jane (Rist) Hurst (Roger), Randy Rist (Diana). He was preceded in death by his parents Donald James and Helen Marie (Cullison) Rist, brothers, Kenneth Lawrence Rist, John Fletcher "Bud" Rist and sister, Dorothy Jean Rist Pavlick and 2 other baby siblings. He has a surviving sister. Nancy (Carrie) Rist Kowalski. He also leaves behind 16 Grandchildren, 30 Great Grandchildren and 7 Great- Great Grandchildren. Don was a resident of Twinsburg, Ohio for 53 years and, also had a home in Port Orange, Florida. He owned D & L towing of Twinsburg Ohio. He had an unfailing work ethic and passion to make his company a success. When he wasn't in Florida, you could still find him at the shop every day. He was a supporter of anything Twinsburg, especially public safety forces. Don was a member of the Twinsburg Rotary Club, a Teamster, and a Twinsburg Legend. As a lifelong NASCAR fan since 1977, he attended many races on a regular basis. He had an enthusiasm for all things cars & tractors. When in Florida, you could find him at Daytona Speedway spending time with friends. Don was a friend, mentor, and father figure to many people. He will be remembered for his teasing jokes, generous smile, quick wit, and always lending a helping hand to anyone in need. The family suggests memorial contributions be made in Don's name to the American Kidney Fund (www.kidneyfund.org). The family will receive friends 4PM-8PM Wednesday, January 26th at Johnson-Romito Funeral Home, 9819 Darrow Rd, Twinsburg OH and from 10AM -11AM Thursday, January 27th at United Methodist Church of Macedonia, 1280 East Aurora Rd., Macedonia, OH where funeral services will begin at 11:00AM. (Masks will be required at church.) Procession to Crown Hill Cemetery to immediately follow the service.
