Donald Eugene Koontz was born on Thursday March 1, 1934, at home in Clear Creek, Indiana. His parents, Blanche and Noble Koontz were loving parents to Don and his four siblings, Bob, Howard, Glenn and Rosella, and as faithful Christians instilled a love for God and family in them. Don died peacefully at home in Mukilteo, Washington on December 14, 2020.
Donundefineds life was characterized by love for God, his family and everyone he met. As we reflect on his life and how he affected the lives of people in a myriad of places and circumstancesundefinedhis was undefineda wonderful life.undefined So many said undefinedI wouldnundefinedt be here today if it werenundefinedt for Don Koontz.undefined His generosity was profound and his ubiquitous smile said undefinedI love you, I want to help you; and I want to be with you.undefined Don served as an Elder for the Vancouver Church of Christ and NW Church in Lynnwood, Washington.
Don began competitive sports undefined especially track - at Mt Vernon High School (Skagit county champion in 880 yard run 1951 and 1952), varsity track team at Pepperdine College, two years on the Army track team in Europe, and back to Pepperdine on varsity track team with scholarship for tuition.
Banking, college administration and instruction plus driving a school bus were Donundefineds three professional careers. As with everything, relationships with other people were what made Don a success and gave him joy.
Don is survived by his wife of 62 years, Kay, his children Mollie Koontz Wilson (and Peter Wilson), Don Koontz (and Lisa Meltvedt Koontz), Susan Koontz Lee (and Chris Lee), and Mark Koontz (and Claire Bradley), 12 grandchildren undefined Gabriella, Christopher, Reid, Anna, Grace, Isabella, Allison, Ava, Christian, Sophia, Benjamin and Charlesundefinedhis brother Glenn Koontz, sister Rosella Gash, and by countless nieces, nephews and friends that were like family.
A celebration of Life will be scheduled for Don when it is safe for us to gather.
