Donald R. King, 89, of Oakview Park, Greenville, SC, husband of the late Helen Cromer King, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2021.
Born September 19, 1931, in Anderson County, SC, he was the son of the late Rhett and Marie Lollis King. He was a former member of West Gantt First Baptist Church in Greenville, SC, for over 40 years where he served as a Deacon, Assistant Sunday School Director, taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. He was a current member of Mt. Airy Baptist Church in Easley, SC.
He is survived by a daughter, Donna King Hudson and her husband, Murray, of Easley, SC; two granddaughters, Michelle Holcombe (Thomas) and Elizabeth Fisher (Zach); and four great grandsons, Warren and Cullen Holcombe and Hudson and Harrison Fisher.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Milton Lamar King.
Don was retired from the United States Air Force having completed 22 years of service. He later retired from the Greenville Hospital System. After his retirement, he also worked part time at Southern Oaks Golf Course as he was an avid golfer and enjoyed the time spent there. He was also a member of several bowling leagues in the area.
Funeral services will be held at noon Friday, June 18, at Sullivan-King Mortuary Chapel, 3205 North Highway 81, Anderson. Burial will follow at Old Silver Brook Cemetery in Anderson with full Military Honors. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until noon on Friday prior to the service.
