Donald "Don" Joseph Snider 96 of Zanesville peacefully passed away at 7:50 AM on February 18, 2023 At Primrose Retirement Center, Zanesville.
He was born on September 21, 1926 in Somerset, Ohio to the late Donald Leo and Helen Sterner Snider.
He was a proud WW II Army Veteran and retired from the New Lexington Cemetery after 25 years of service. Don was formally employed by Clouse and Snider Dairy and also the Bryan and Snider Funeral Home. He was a member of the New Lexington fire department for 27 years, former member of the Saint Rose Catholic Church, and current member of the Saint Nicholas Catholic Church. Don was a 38+ year member of the American Legion and VFW. He was known to his family and friends, as the most calm and kindest person they knew. Don was the jack of all trades and the master of many.
He was married to Rosalie Wilson Snider, the love of his life for 71 years. His children feel blessed to have had him as their wonderful father and remarkable role model. In addition to his wife, Don is survived by sons, Dan (Charlotte) Snider of Zanesville, Tom "Leo" (Jan) Snider, Robert "Bert" (Teri) Snider and William "Chuck" (Lisa) Snider all of New Lexington; daughters, Bonnie Heavener of Zanesville, Connie (Mark) Still of Nashport, Lisa (Jim) Theisen of Thornville and Dawn (Chuck) Holman of New Lexington; sisters-in-law, Thelma Hitchens and Madaline Martindale of Newark; 19 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren plus 1 on the way and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by five siblings, and one granddaughter, Jena Snider.
Visitation will be 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM with Christian Vigil at 8:00 PM Wednesday February 22nd at the Bryan & Hardwick Funeral Home. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to Funeral Mass, which will be celebrated 11:00 AM Thursday at St. Rose Catholic Church, New Lexington with Fr. Martin Ralko as celebrant. Burial with Military Honors will conclude at the New Lexington Cemetery.
Contributions can be made in his honor to Saint Nicholas Catholic Church, Zanesville Saint Rose Catholic Church, New Lexington, or Genesis Hospice. A special thank you to his guardian angels Jane, Jessica, and Lynn and all the staff at Primrose. We are forever grateful.
