Donald Roy Jones of Shopiere WI, went to meet the Lord on November 25th, 2024, at the age of 83 surrounded by family and friends at Alden Meadow Park in Clinton, WI. Don was born in Janesville on January 26th, 1941, to Jonas Charles and Signe Chrstina (Nordeng) Jones, he grew up in Janesville where he graduated from Janesville High School in 1959.
Don then went on to college at UW Whitewater then transferred to Spencerian College in Milwaukee where he majored in business and graduated. After college he met the love of his life Kathleen (Morris) of Afton, WI and was wed on October 21st, 1967, they celebrated 57 years together this fall. He then enlisted into the U.S. Army where he was recruited into the CIA as an intelligence officer during the Vietnam war. After the Army Don had many jobs but he settled into advertising following in his father's footsteps and going to work for Shaw Barton, which is now called Halo Solutions, where he worked for more than 50 years of his life.
Don will be remembered as a steward to his community where he was the chairman of the planning and zoning board for Town of Turtle for 33 years. He also was part of the 4th of July committee, and cemetery committee for many years. He served on Rock county's board of adjustments and PACE (Purchase of Agriculture Conservation Easements) committee. Shopiere Congregational Church was another big part of his life; Don and Kathy enjoyed singing in the choir and Don was the church moderator. Don also served on the Rock County Humane Society's board and on the business advisory committee for Clinton High School. For many years he was a 4H leader for the horse and pony project through the Rock County Fair.
One thing Don looked forward to every year was working at the train station at the Rock River Thresheree where he was a lifetime member. His favorite place was just being at home on the family farm, Turtleville Farm, where friends and family would call him the Mayor of Turtleville where he had lived for more than 50 years. Don enjoyed golf cart drives around their property with Kathy and going up to Citrus Cafe or Milton Family Restaurant to visit.
Don is survived by his loving wife Kathleen (Morris) Jones, son Joshua (Christine) Jones along with many nieces and nephews, and friends that were as close as family. He is preceded in death by his parents Jonas Charles and Signe Christina (Nordeng) Jones, his sister Nancy Nelson.
