Donald W. Hennemann, 86, of Easthampton passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, March 4, 2021 surrounded by his loved ones. Born in Holyoke on September 19, 1934 to Walter Hennemann and Louise (Knab) Hennemann, Don was raised by his Uncle Gus and Aunt Ella. He graduated from Holyoke High School in 1952 and studied at Williams College. He served as a Corporal in the U.S. Army in the 1950s and was a member of the military band. After his service, he spent his career working as a bank branch manager, financial advisor, and insurance consultant at various financial institutions across Western MA. Don's true passions, though, were his music and his faith. He was raised in the Lutheran Church and was a founding member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Holyoke. He served as an organist at several Lutheran churches, and he played in a jazz trio at the Holyoke Soldiers' Home. He loved to spend free time with his family and loved ones, dine at local restaurants, compose and play music, and volunteer at the Holyoke Soldiers' Home. Don had a caring and gentle soul, and he touched the lives of all of those he met. He was a wonderful husband, brother, father, grandfather, and friend, and will be greatly missed by many. Don is predeceased by his father, mother, and sister, Janet. He is survived by his wife, Ruth, his brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Carolyn Henneman, his daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Mark Windoloski, his son, Dave Hennemann, his grandchildren Kristen and Jeffrey and his wife, Zoe, his first great-grandchild Isaak and his second great-grandchild expected in July, his step-daughter Angie and her husband Tyshon, his step-grandchild Ella, his Godchild Tom Wegman, and numerous cousins. Calling hours for Don will be Wednesday, March 10 from 8:30-9:30 a.m. at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Holyoke. A private funeral for immediate family will follow. A public memorial service at St. John's Lutheran Church in Westfield will be held Saturday, March 13 at 11:00 a.m. Donations in memory of Don can be made either to St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Holyoke or the Holyoke Soldiers' Home. The Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home in Holyoke is handling the
arrangements.
