Donald W. Grant, 76, passed away Nov. 2, 2022 in East Tawas.Don was born July 9, 1946 in Benton Harbor to Wesley and Harriet Grant. He grew up in Michigan Center with his parents and sister Myrna Rowe. Donald graduated from Northwood University with a Bachelor of Business degree along with an associate's degree in hotel restaurant management. Following his college graduation, he was drafted by the U.S. Army and served in the Vietnam War. He then spent the next 26 years serving in the Army National Guard. He was proud of his service to his country and believed that the United States of America was a great place to live. Don married Dianne M. Quinn Dec. 18, 1971 in Lansing. They are immensely proud of raising their two children, Stephen J. Grant and Kathryn M. Frank. Throughout their marriage, they lived in various towns throughout Michigan, but spent most of their married life in East Tawas, and since 2021 have resided in Florida. Don and Dianne celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this past December surrounded by their family in celebration. Don leaves behind his children, Stephen (Wendy) Grant and Kathryn (Scott) Frank; grandchildren, Wesley (Madison), Julia (Ramses), and Ally (Bruno) Frank, Peyton and Dylan Grant; brother and sister-in-law, William (Donna) Quinn; nieces, Shawn (Marc) Belanski, Joyce (Mike) Longbreak, Wanda Baker, and Phyllis (Roger) Harbaugh; and many great nieces and nephews. Donald also is leaving behind many wonderful friends that he held dear to his heart. Don was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Dianne in May; his parents, Wesley and Harriet Grant; his sister and brother-in-law, Myrna and Walt Rowe; his in-laws, William and Shirley Quinn; his only nephew, Michael Quinn; and his beloved schnauzer, Ivan. A memorial funeral mass will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church in East Tawas on Saturday, Nov. 12 at 11 a.m. The family will welcome friends at the church for a time of gathering from 10 a.m. until mass begins.
