Donald Maurice Abraham Forsyth , 78 Oct 16, 1942 - Feb 25, 2021 Donald Maurice Abraham Forsyth, 78, of Clear Spring, MD, passed away on Thursday, February 25, 2021 with his wife by his side.
Born on October 16, 1942 in Clear Spring, he was the son of the late Lewis Winger Forsyth and Mary Elise Yetter Forsyth.
Donald is survived by his wife, Bonnie M. Forsyth, his sister Ravena Minnick formerly of Williamsport, MD, and a special niece and nephew, whom he thought of as his own children, Kim Brown (Kurt) and Robert Keefer (Christina) all of Clear Spring. Additional surviving family members are nephews, Earl Meagher of Clear Spring, Mitchell Forsyth of Havre, MT Jerry Forsyth of Mercersburg, PA, Greg and Darryl Minnick of Williamsport, niece Debbie Shupp of Hagerstown, MD, great nieces, Asya Brown Grove (Mark) and Cheyenne Keefer, and great nephews, Ryder Brown of Clear Spring, Derek and Jeremy Forsyth of Pennsylvania.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Pauline Piraino, and his brothers, Carl Forsyth and Noel Forsyth, and his nephew, Christopher Forsyth. He was also preceded in death by his in-laws Robert and Rita Clark.
He was a member of Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church in Fairview, MD.
Donald graduated from Clear Spring High School in 1960. After graduation, he had a variety of jobs before entering the Army in 1963. He served three years in Armor in the 1099th Transportation Co., with the last six months served in Vietnam.
He worked for many years in sheet metal fabrication, including Roper-Eastern Products, Fairchild, and Danzer Metal Works. He retired from Maryland Metals in 2007.
Donald was a member of the Joseph C. Herbert American Legion Post #222 in Clear Spring, a lifetime member of the Clarence Armstrong VFW Post #6241, and a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #1790 both in Mercersburg.
He greatly enjoyed participating in the tractor parade each year at the Two Top steam and craft show. He was an avid NASCAR fan and his love of the sport took him too many different tracks around the country, to support his favorite driver, Jeff Gordon. In addition, Donald was a fan of the Baltimore Orioles baseball team. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting, especially at his hunting camp in upstate Pennsylvania. He was known to entertain his family with many of his stories, "tall tales" of his life experiences.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 4, 2021 at Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church, 14615 Fairview Church Road, Clear Spring, MD, where the family will receive friends on hour prior services. Pastors Robert Lewis and Ron Faith officiating. A live stream of the service will be available via Facebook www.mttaborcs.com for those unable to attend. Burial with graveside military honors provided by the Tri-State Honor Guard and the Clear Spring Honor Guard will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Clear Spring, MD. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, face masks and social distancing are required.
