Donald Patrick "Don" Donaho passed away on November 12, 2025, at the age of 78, in his home in College Station, Texas. While his final days were in College Station, Don's heart and lifetime were rooted in Raymondville, Texas, the community he cherished and dedicated himself to.
A proud graduate of Texas A&I University in Kingsville, where he attended on a track scholarship, Don began his career in the insurance industry shortly after moving to Raymondville, TX in 1975. He joined Hutchins, Eberhart & Donaho Insurance Agency in Raymondville, and in 1980, he established Donaho Insurance Agency, where he served as president. Don specialized in writing insurance for all phases of the cotton industry, from crop growth through the ginning process, earning the respect and trust of countless clients throughout the region.
Don's commitment to his community was evident through his service on the Board of Directors of the Willacy County Navigation District and the Raymondville Chamber of Commerce. He was also an active member of the Raymondville Rotary Club and generously shared his expertise by teaching insurance courses at the University of Texas Pan American.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William T. Donaho and Kathleen Poteet Donaho, and his brothers, William T. Donaho Jr. and John F. Donaho.
Don is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Shurlene Roberts Donaho; his children Patrick (Koni) Donaho, Evelyn (Hill) Cocke, Kevin (Andrea) Trapp, and Jessica (Stephen) Laperouse; and nine cherished grandchildren: Dallas Donaho, Montanna Trapp, Iris Cisneros, Hayden Foster-Cocke, Hutch Foster-Cocke, Jack Cisneros, Sarita Donaho, Tula Donaho, and Courtland Laperouse.
Don will be remembered for his integrity, generosity, and unwavering dedication to his family and community. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the values he instilled.
Graveside service will be held on Monday, November 17, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Raymondville Memorial Cemetery, Raymondville, Texas.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Duddlesten Funeral Home, 604 W. Hidalgo Ave, Raymondville, Texas.
