Donald Creighton, 82, long-time resident of Northampton, passed away peacefully at home in Holyoke. Born in Brooklyn, NY on February 25, 1939, to the late Frank J. and Irene (Hunt) Creighton. He was a graduate of Andrew Jackson High School in Queens and went on to pursue a career downtown Manhattan with Dow Jones Co. This opportunity led Don and his late wife Gail K. (Bridges) Creighton, to Massachusetts. He assisted in opening the Wall Street Journal Chicopee plant in 1959. Don stayed with Dow Jones Co. for 33 years and upon his retirement, he spread his appreciation and love of gardening and Iris' to his community while working in the Garden Center at Home Depot. Don also, enjoyed passing time with various clubs and associations, including the Koi Club, the local Persian Cat Club, and the Iris Society. If he was not admiring the beauties of Koi ponds surrounded by iris', he was likely enjoying the fine dining of Western MA or taking a ride to the ME coast for a lobster roll. Don is survived by his three daughters, Dawn Tacy and her husband Richard of Florence, MA; Kelly Creighton of Rotonda West, FL; Bridget Renkowic and her husband Joseph of Easthampton, MA; and his son Donald Creighton, II of Holyoke, MA. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Grace Creighton of NJ. Lastly, he leaves his eight grandchildren, William Metzger and his wife Andrea; Timothy Robbins, II and his wife Katelyn; Keith Farrie and his wife Courtney; Taylor Farrie; Emma Tacy; Mackenzie Creighton; Matti Tacy; and Caleigh Creighton; as well as ten adored great-grandchildren. Sadly, he is predeceased by his wife Gail K. (Bridges) Creighton; his parents Frank J. and Irene (Hunt) Creighton; his two brothers Francis and Richard Creighton; and his sister Adrienne (Creighton) Bowen. A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of the Hills Parish in Haydenville, MA on Saturday, December 18, 2021, at 11:00 AM, burial will be private.
