Donald "Catfish" Landry, 89, of Napoleon and previously of Defiance, passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at the Sandusky Veteran's Home. He was born in Palmer, Massachusetts on June 30, 1933, to Romuald and Gertrude (Champagne) Landry. He married Saundra "Sue" Allen on May 11, 1957, in Winchester, Indiana.
Don was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Freedom Township, and the American Legion. He proudly served his county in the US Marine Corp. Don enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and just being outdoors. He was a millwright for GM Automotive and could fix nearly anything. Don loved his animals, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family.
Don is survived by his children, Michael (Linda) Landry and Sarah VerMeulen; grandchildren, Justin (Taylor) Buchhop, Stephanie (Josh) Jones, Nathan (Kaylee) Buchhop, and Allison (Michael Rochefort) VerMeulen; great grandchildren, Gannon Jones, Finnley Jones, Kash Buchhop, Mack Buchhop, and finally a great granddaughter on the way; and his siter, Claire Theodore of Webster, Massachusetts. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Sue; daughter, Cynthia Buchhop; infant son, Mark Landry; and brother-in-law, Richard Theodore.
Family and friends will be received at the Rodenberger-Gray Funeral Home, Napoleon on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at St. John Lutheran Church, Freedom Township, on Thursday, September 22, 2022, at 11:00 AM with an hour of visitation prior to services. Interment will follow at Riverview Memory Gardens with military honors accorded by the American Legion Post #300. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sandusky Veteran's Home.
