Donald G. “Don” Bublitz, 93, Lake Nebagamon, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2022. Don was born on February 22, 1929 in Milwaukee, WI to William and Helen (Justman) Bublitz.
Don was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Barbara Bublitz, daughter, Brenda Bublitz, son, Brett Bublitz, grandson, Jacob (Arica) Myer, granddaughter, Jennifer (Jeffrey) Bosworth, and five great-grandchildren.
He graduated from Rufus King High School in 1947. Don went on to UW Madison to receive his degree of Bachelor of Science.
Prior to attending the University of Wisconsin, Don served in the Air Force and reserves for eight years as a Police Sergeant.
Don began his career as a Wildlife Manager on August 20, 1958 at Black River Falls. In 1960, he was reassigned to the experimental roadside habitat project at Madison. In 1961, he transferred to Park Falls, and in 1962 assumed the position of Area Wildlife Manager at Brule where he continued to work until his retirement on August 18, 1989.
Don was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing and spending time raising horses on his property. He also had a passion for woodworking.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, William “Billy” Bublitz and one sister, Muriel Irish.
A visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00pm followed by a service at Trinity Lutheran Church, Lake Nebagamon. A luncheon will be held at the church immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to one of Don’s beloved organizations, the WI Sharp Tailed Grouse Society.
