Donald A. Bryson, Sr., 88, formerly of Liberty Twp. Passed away at NHC Laurens in Laurens, SC after a lengthy illness.
Mr. Bryson was born in Struthers, Ohio on Oct. 15, 1934 the son of Lloyd and Catherine Stiles Bryson. Don spent several years of his childhood in the Oak Ridge, Tennessee area which he loved and returned to often later in life. He attended Youngstown College and was an avid YSU and Ohio State Buckeye fan. Don was the advertising director for several companies including Fisher-Fazio in Cleveland, Golden Dawn Foods in Sharon, PA and most recently retired from Gasser Chair Company in Liberty Twp. After retiring, Don and his wife Marianne loved to spend their winters in Florida.
Don was an Army veteran having served during the Korean War, as an instructor in the wheeled-vehicle school at Ft Knox, KY. He was also a Mason, and member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans. Proud of his Scotch-Irish heritage, he was a great story teller to those who would listen.
His love of old cars, especially 1940 Ford Coupes, lasted a lifetime. He was working on restoring his latest 40 Ford well into his 80's, but sadly had to sell it due to his illness.
In addition to his wife of 65 years Marianne (Toth), his is survived by his sons Donald, Jr (Marisa) of Hillsborough, NC, Douglas (Ashly) of Laurens, SC, a brother James (Joann) of New Middletown, OH, 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents, his son David, a granddaughter Chloe, sister Kathryn Cooper and brothers Kendall and Gerald.
A special thanks to his "Ohio family" Bill and Cheryl Biviano for their dedicated care over the years and to his "little Gina" who brought him so much love and joy.
Mr. Bryson did not wish to have a service at this time but requested memorials be made to the Beatitude House, 238 Tod Lane, Youngstown, Ohio 44504.
