Donald E. Bruce, age 79, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 13, 2021. He was born in Bloomington, Monroe County, Indiana to Delmar and Mary Bruce.
Donald was a U.S. Vietnam Veteran and a lifetime member of the Center Township Volunteer Fire Department, a member of Van Buren Volunteer Fire Department, Treasurer of Moose Lodge Chapter 1081 in Bloomington, Knights of Columbus, Am vets, and many other community organizations.
Donald is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Sophia Bruce, whom was his best friend, companion, and soulmate. He is also survived by his three siblings, Jack Bruce (Mary Lou), Richard Bruce, and Linda Shields (Tim), four children, Dana Bruce, Cyrus Bruce, Shelly (Terry) Major, and Kirby Don (Brandy) Bruce. 17 grandchildren, Darren (Jordan) McCloud, Jessie-Sissy (Chazz) Pate, Gregory (Brittany) Bruce, Brittaney-Britt Bruce, Justin-ID (Hali) Bruce, Brittany Major,Bobbi Fields, Cody Major, Ryan Major, Kinzee Major, Hali Kay Fields, Austin-AJ Bruce, Megan (Cameron) Bruce, Brianna Fuchie, Kelsey Fuchie, Mariah Bruce, and Sophia Bruce, and 20 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Delmar and Mary Bruce, siblings, Keith Bruce; two twin children, Renea and Dondi Lee Bruce.
A memorial gathering will be held from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 20th, 2021 at Allen Funeral Home and Crematory, 4155 S. Old State Road 37, Bloomington. Online condolences, photos and memories may be shared with family and friends at www.allencares.com
