The home going that Reverend Don Malone preached about so often became reality for him at about 2 a.m. on January 4, 2021 at the age of 84. Don was born January 21, 1936 in a house in a community called Rockford, Texas located 14 miles southeast of Paris in Lamar, County to Samuel Odis Malone and Viola Denny Malone.
He is survived by his loving and faithful wife of 66 years, Margaret; His children, Terry and June Malone of Mt. Vernon, Paula and Donny Heimer of Kilgore, Karen and Joe Whitaker of Mt. Pleasant; his grandchildren Chris Heimer and Brandi of Kilgore, Tessara Malone and Josh of Fate, Jonathan Whitaker and Casey of Omaha, Janessa Stewart and Joshua of Longview, Joel Whitaker and Kaitlyn of Daingerfield, and Ryan Heimer and Heathur of Longview;10 great grandchildren; Brother-in-law and Sister-in-law, Lois and Richard Stevens of Hooks; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Don was preceded in death by his parents and his only sister, Linda Sherian Coker.
A come-and-go visitation is scheduled for Friday, January 8th, from 5-8 p.m. at Bates-Cooper-Sloan Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, January 9th, at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant with burial to follow at Meadowbrook Gardens in Paris, Texas.
